Class Schedule:

Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays

Monday: 9:15 AM – 1:45 PM

Wednesday: 9:15 AM – 1:45 PM

Friday: 9:15 AM – 12:15 PM

The Pre-K program is designed to help children develop Kindergarten readiness skills.

The program is intended to create a caring community of learners that offers learning through play and exploration. Children will learn through a variety of play-based activities that encourage growth in the areas of physical, social/emotional, and intellectual development. Monthly themes and goals guide the teaching of  concepts.

Our program uses the principles of “Handwriting Without Tears” to help children gain confidence in pre-writing skills. Our crafts promote a student’s creativity, focuses on the process, and exercises small motor muscles. Outdoor play, multi sensory teaching tools, singing/music movement, science exploration, and dramatic play are all a part of a child’s typical day.

F.A.Q.

What is your staff-to-child ratio?

Our staff-to-child ratio ensures a well-balanced program geared to a child’s individual needs. We will always met or succeed State of Michigan mandated licensing rules for staff-to child ratios. State licensure requires 1:8 for 2.5’s, 1:10 for 3’s, and 1:12 for Pre-K.

Each classroom has Two Lead Teachers. Our teacher to student ratio is 1:5 for 2.5’s, 1:8 for the 3’s and the Pre-K program.

Is my child ready for independent preschool?

This is a question that we often receive. If you are considering whether or not your child is ready for preschool, your child should be:

  • Toilet trained
  • Able to communicate their needs to others
  • Physically, mentally, and emotionally capable of benefiting from the preschool experience
  • Shows interest in stories, singing and co-operative play
  • Can respond/interact with adults other than parents
Is my child ready for Kindergarten?

State of Michigan guidelines require that children be 5 by September 1st to enter Kindergarten. Therefore, children on the cusp of that September 1st deadline with birthdays in April through August are often considered for Young Fives.

Age, however, isn’t the only way to measure your child’s Kindergarten readiness. There are many factors to consider when deciding to give your child a growth year, and each and every child is different. Kindergarten readiness means having well-developed preschool skills, to be not only academically ready, but also socially, emotionally and physically ready for the transition to Kindergarten.

Do you celebrate Religious Holidays?

Yes, we do recognize and celebrate Christian Holidays such as Christmas and Easter. The students in the 3’s and Pre-K program will participate in a Christmas program as well.

My child has an allergy; can your school accommodate this?

Yes, FPP is an allergy friendly school. The care and safety of your child is something that we take very seriously.

  • Any child with an anaphylactic food allergy is required to have an EPI-Pen at school with a Food Allergy Action Plan completed by the child’s physician.
  • Parents of children in the Pre- K program are required to provide lunch for their child. Lunches should be nutritious and peanut/tree nut free.
  • Any outside snacks that are brought in must adhere to our peanut/ tree nut free policy. Outside snacks are required to be approved by classroom teachers before they are allowed to be served in a classroom.
  • If your child has a specific allergy that requires specialized snacks, the parent/guardian may provide an alternative snack, as long as it adheres to our outside snack policy/procedure.
Do you offer before and/or after care?

No, FPP does not offer any before or after care for children. We are a traditional preschool setting.

Are you a licensed program?

Yes, we are a State of Michigan licensed preschool program.

What Our Families are Saying

Both of our children have gone to FPP and we cannot say enough good things about it. The staff is so kind and caring, and seem genuinely invested in the kids’ well-being and growth. We have felt very included and involved with the program; we’ve especially liked the activities that connect the preschool and the church, and all the opportunities to donate and volunteer. We only wish the kids could go there forever!
